Traveling while pregnant with twins

by IndianMom

Hello,

I just started my second trimester and am pregnant with twins :)

I am feeling absolutely fine and healthy, eating well, and am sleeping well too. I have a trip planned internationally (totally unavoidable) in June. Everyone seem to be freaking me out about premature labor.

I will be starting my trip during my 22nd week and completing it by 24th week.

1. What are the chances for premature labor between this timeframe? Any statistics would help.

2. What precautions must I take?

3. How can I ensure good health prior to travel and throughout my pregnancy that will delay labor as much as possible? - Any exercises, yoga, diet plan?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

I have been going in for my frequent ultrasounds, and my twins look great :) and absolutely beautiful!

Thanks.

Air Travel

It is best to be approved for air travel with your health care provider. The time frame you mentioned falls into the best time of feeling your best including a lesser likelihood of preterm labor.

So to be on the safe side and to keep yourself as healthy as possible:

See your doctor before you travel for the go ahead.

Drink lots of water during you flight and at anytime really. Dehydration can cause preterm labor.

Stretch your legs and take the occasional walk up and down the aisle. You can also occasionally stretch and rotate your ankles while seated.
